2000

The Inception

Sarrai Group is founded with a vision to revolutionize agro-manufacturing in East Africa, starting with sustainable forestry.

2004

Consumer Goods Foundation

Strategic acquisition of Engaano Millers, laying the groundwork for our wheat and baking sector with the Tip Top brand.

2006

A Sweet Milestone

Acquired 70% stake in Kinyara Sugar Limited, marking our entry into large-scale sugar processing and power generation.

2011

$45M Capital Expansion

Invested over $45 Million in Kinyara Sugar to double production capacity to 105,000 MT/annum and increase cane growing to 23,000 hectares.

2015

Hoima Sugar Commissioned

Launch of Hoima Sugar Ltd, a greenfield project in North-West Uganda featuring a modern sugar factory and distillery.

2016

Innovation in Wood

Commissioned Nile Fibre Boards, becoming the first and only producer of Medium Density Fibre-boards (MDF) in Uganda.

2018

Year of Accolades

Multiple group brands (NilePly, Kinyara, Tip Top) swept the People's Choice Awards, cementing our reputation for quality.

2021

Reviving a Giant

Won the bid to lease and revive Mumias Sugar Company, restoring Kenya’s legendary sugar miller to operation.

Acquired majority stake in Hima Cement, solidifying our position as the regional leader in construction materials.
